On Friday 28th April 2023, the LAGOOS project is organising a workshop on the Transkribus handwritten text recognition software for Latin and Greek texts of the early modern period (1400–1850).

The event has been arranged in collaboration with the READ-COOP, the Institute for Classical Philology and Neo-Latin Studies, University of Innsbruck and offers a 3-hour introduction to the Transkribus tool, two models for Greek and Latin developed by researchers in Innsbruck, and insights on the challenges and future of using AI-powered software for digital transcription.

The workshop will take place in the Raum der Schrift at the Zentrum für Alte Kulturen, University of Innsbruck, and participants will have the chance to exchange over coffee both during and after the event.
