Since the start of the project in January 2023, the Innsbruck team has now expanded to include two new members.
Mariia Hrynevych gained her MA degree in Classical Philology, Literary Studies, and English at Kharkiv National University, where she wrote her Master’s thesis in the field of classical reception. Mariia joined the ΛΑΓΩΟΣ team as a PhD candidate and research assistant, where she’s keen to develop her interests in the history of Classical Philology and 19th-century academia. Within the project, Mariia will be preparing the English regesta of Hase’s diaries and investigating the scholar’s intricate intellectual legacy. (mariia.hrynevych@uibk.ac.at)
Lev Shadrin holds Master’s degrees in Medieval Studies and Digital Humanities, which has allowed him to combine his interests in Ancient–Byzantine Greek with the techniques of Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Social Network Analysis, and Database Management. Within the project, Lev brings together his knowledge of these digital tools and linguistic methodology to study the source text, transcribing Hase’s Greek and analysing the linguistic aspects of the scholar’s diary writing practice. Now settled in Innsbruck, Mariia and Lev will be working alongside PI William M. Barton until 2026.
