A Life in Ancient Greek: The Secret Diary of Karl Benedikt Hase (1780–1864)

A project dedicated to the edition and study of Karl Benedikt Hase’s ‘Secret’ diary, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and hosted by the University of Innsbruck

Hase’s visit to Greece in Summer 1837. A Blog Post by L. Shadrin

In 1837, Hase visited the new Kingdom of Greece and kept notes on his trip in his ‘secret’ diary. LAGOOS team-member Lev Shadrin has prepared a blog post on several elements of Hase’s account of the trip for the Hermes Platform.

For the details of Hase’s journey, his meetings with colleagues (including the Bavarian royalty!) in Athens, his experience of medical quarantine, and how he recorded all of these experiences in a form of Ancient Greek, head over to Hermes to read Lev’s post.
